About Total Laboratory Consulting, LLC

​Total Lab Consulting, LLC was founded by Harold M. Burgeson, Jr., MPH, MT(ASCP), a seasoned clinical laboratory leader with more than 30 years of clinical laboratory experience spanning regulatory compliance, quality systems management, and laboratory operations. Harold brings expertise in laboratory accreditation and regulatory oversight, including CLIA compliance, quality assurance and quality control program development, personnel competency assessment, and laboratory technical supervision.

 

With experience as a Laboratory Supervisor within a major academic health system, he has led laboratory College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation initiatives, directed QA/QC programs, supervised personnel, and served as a key representative on institutional Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees. In addition to his hospital-based leadership, Harold has experience as a physician office Laboratory Technical Consultant, providing oversight consistent with CLIA §493.1413 requirements. His consulting work includes quality systems implementation, test menu oversight, proficiency testing verification, and regulatory readiness preparation.

 

Additionally, Harold holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Missouri and holds certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. His background uniquely integrates clinical laboratory expertise with public health principles, enabling a systems-based approach to laboratory quality management, and healthcare regulatory compliance and infection prevention.
